WOW Report: The World Will End in a Week

A reader pointed us to this video of Hawkins himself explaining why the workd is going to end in one week. I wonder how this catastrophic end of life as we know it will affect my first day of classes? Will it be treated like a Snow Day? I can see the University website now:"Due to apocalyptic conditions, the university will be closed today"
End of video bonus: Ummm. Pirate rap? Leave it to the U.K.ers to throw in that little extra spice.

EDIT: WOW is for "World of Wonder, the website serving the article. This is not to be confused with World of Warcraft, which needs no explanation."

Who is Yisrayl Hawkins anyways?

Yisrayl (Israel) Hawkins
(born Buffalo Bill Hawkins) is the founder of the House of Yahweh religious group in Abilene, Texas. He claims to be descended from Jewish immigrants who fled Nazi persecution in Europe.
Who cares? Yisrael is the supposed firestarter if this whole 9/12/06 'Pockyclipse.

YouTube - Nuclear War Are Belong To Us 9-12-2006

Apparently Overseer Yisrayl Hawkins thinks that Nuclear war will break out this Sept. 12. This YouTube video is a mashup of many of his believers conveying that very same idea. A little freaky if you ask me.

machine project - The Business Card Menger Sponge

Totally awesome. I love the raw obsessive dedication that it takes to complete one of these projects.
"Menger’s Sponge - named for its inventor Karl Menger and sometimes wrongly called Sierpinski’s Sponge – was the first three dimensional fractal that mathematicians became aware of. In 1995 Dr Jeannine Mosely, a software engineer, set out to build a level 3 Menger Sponge from business cards. After 9 years of effort, involving hundreds of folders all over America, the Business Card Menger Sponge was completed. The resulting object is comprised of 66,048 cards folded into 8000 interlinked sub-cubes, with the entire surface paneled to reveal the Level 2 and Level 3 fractal iterations."

This is a witty cartoon in the flavor of drawn together meets RPG geekdom. Funny stuff. Wanting new episodes immediately.

Happy Birthday, Metroid

In celebration of Samus' birthday, (which was actually yesterday but i'm lazy) I'm presenting you with this little musical gem. Relics of the Chozo is a collaborative effort to improve upon the already famous melodies of Nintendo's Metroid. Check it out for some great remixes.
