Destroy All Humans PS2 - Bovine Blasting Hilarity

"Use destructive weapons and innate mental powers to take on the most feared enemy in the galaxy - Mankind! Play as Crypto, an alien warrior sent to Earth to clear the way for the Furon invasion force.
Your mission is to infiltrate humanity, control them, harvest their brain stems and ultimately destroy them. You choose the method infiltration or disintegration."

Just finished this one last night. I give it two thumbs up with special notice to originality, creativity, and most of all, humor. This game had me tittering my way through the armageddon like the Pink Panther on nitrous. Definately a rental because it's quite short. I think I finished it in around nine hours. If you love GTA and find yourself replaying it often, you may be inclined to purchase this game as well, simply for the mayhem factor.

Saskrotch - Nintendo Techie Weirdness.

Saskrotch takes classic 8bit nintendo music and rips it up with some crunchy drum loops. Very live PA. Some good, some just strange. Worth a couple minutes of listening.

Sony president says Playstation 3 will be expensive

At this week's Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation Meeting in Tokyo, company president Ken Kutaragi meandered along to continue with his solemn warnings that the PlayStation 3 will not be a cheap console, even going so far as to say that "…the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households." Sony is planning a lifecycle of ten years for the PS3, which is about double what its predecessors got. Sony hopes to maintain this long life-cycle by investing now in those expensive pieces of kit, saying "We're looking at a life cycle of 10 years with the PlayStation 3. We're currently shifting from standard TVs to HDTVs.

I think if this is true, it sounds like a possible death knell for SCE. I thought it was a given to steer away from new "future technology" components. Making a really expensive unit is in my opinion really really foolish. We'll see how this one pans out.

Ice Lake Found on Mars

I think this kind of stuff is really interesting. Ice caps on mars, water deep under the surface, methane pockets. The idea of life in any form this close to earth is exciting. I wonder how long it will be until Mars is open for fishing.

Aphex Twin - Rubber Johnny Video

Johnny is a hyperactive, shape-shifting mutant child, kept locked away in a basement. With only his feverish imagination and his terrified dog for company, he finds ways to amuse himself in the dark.

I'm not sure Richard D. James wants his new video playing on ebaumsworld and other "freaky stuff" sites, but regardless, it is. It's everything I had hoped it would be, and more. Credit to IveDog for finding this little gem and passing it along.

Rubber Johnny is the latest creation from UK filmmaker, Chris Cunningham. Featuring music by Aphex Twin, this nightmarish and hallucinatory experimental short film is on sale now, accompanied by 40 pages of drawings and photographs - CunninghamÂ’s first published book of original artwork.

Kinsey

"Liam Neeson provides a fascinating portrait of theorist and zoologist Dr. Alfred Kinsey, whose name has been associated with human sexuality ever since he interviewed thousands of people about their sex lives and released his findings in a groundbreaking 1948 book, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male. The book caused ripples in the scientific community and paved the way for further inquiry into the subject. Laura Linney and Peter Sarsgaard co-star."
Blah Blah Blah. I fell asleep halfway through this one. Boring! Three out of ten. Don't waste your time watching old people do what you can do with a friend!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Cute. Possibly a bit more for kids than the first one. Depp did a very Hunter S. job as Willy Wonka. Not sure I loved it as much as the kids sitting behind me. I'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. Mostly because of set design ingenuity based off the original.

Closer

In this drama based on a hit Broadway play, Academy Award-winning director Mike Nichols exposes the ugly core hiding behind the slick veneer of the relationships of four beautiful people -- a photographer (Julia Roberts) and her boyfriend (Clive Owen), and a romantic (Jude Law) and his quirky beloved (Oscar nominee Natalie Portman). When two of them embark on an illicit affair, a cascade of betrayal ensues, questioning the very meaning of love.

Personally, Closer made me sick to my stomach. Not because of bad acting, the acting was fine. Not because of the screenplay, that was fine too. I think it was the fact that it was all about people fucking with each others heads and playing sick little mindgames that made me sick. My own real life is already way too full of those kind of people. I don't need to go and pay to see it in "make-believe". 3.5 out of 5 for acting etc. 0 out of 5 for fun factor.

J.M. Barrie's Neverland

Finding Neverland. Kate Winslet, Johnny Depp, lots of other great actors and actresses. Very poignant look at the muse behind the play. A poetic look at pain and suffering, growing up, growing old, being in love, not being in love. Loving and letting go. all of that tear welling stuff. Four out of five stars in my little review book.

Ariel Alyssum Lannen, 25

Ariel was the little sister of one of my closest friends growing up. She died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, June 25. I went to her service today. I saw so many people from my own childhood. I always find myself a bit dismayed that it takes the death of someone brilliant to bring loved ones together, reunited. I listened to everyone's memories and stories of Ariel's life, and how she touched, taught and loved them. Drugs are terrible hurtful things.

This is great. A perfect fusion of game, gimmick, animation and sexy sexy coke chugging hotties. What? Only the geekers out there will really appreciate the humor in this, myself included.
